Description
This Florence and Pisa shore excursion from Livorno covers two cities in one day, in a private air-conditioned minivan that collects you at your cruise ship. The day lasts about eight hours, and the driver speaks English, Italian or Spanish. A local expert leads the walk in Florence.
The first stop is Piazzale Michelangelo, a viewpoint over the whole city, and the road passes the Romanesque Basilica di San Miniato al Monte. In the centre you see the Duomo complex, with the Cathedral, the Baptistery and Giotto's Bell Tower, and then Piazza della Signoria, where Palazzo Vecchio stands. Lunch in Florence is on your own time; it is an option you can add, otherwise you eat where you like.
Next the van heads to Pisa and its 11th-century Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Leaning Tower. You then have free time to wander the streets before the ride back to Livorno.
