Description
This trip from Lucca to the Saturnia hot springs is built around a long scenic drive and a soak at the end of it. The group meets in a square in the centre of Lucca and sets off for southern Tuscany by car.
The route runs along a coastal road with views of the Mediterranean and a few characteristic villages, then cuts through the hills and olive groves of central Tuscany, so the landscape changes as you go south. Plenty to look at from the window before the day's swim.
At Saturnia, you slip into the warm outdoor thermal waters, which stay at 27°C. The pools are open air, which makes the stop an easy one to share with children. On site you find:
- toilets and changing rooms, free of charge
- a restaurant, open between March and December
- showers
The tour includes the car transfer and the bath at Terme di Saturnia. Food and drinks are not included.
