Description
A Florence and Pisa shore excursion from Livorno puts the Duomo and the Leaning Tower into a single day. After meeting your tour leader you board an air-conditioned bus for Florence, with a guide on board. A tasting of local products is available if you select that option.
In Florence you follow the tour leader to the main sights, then explore alone. You can start in Piazza della Repubblica, in the footsteps of Dante, continue to Piazza della Signoria and cross the arched Ponte Vecchio over the Arno. With free time you might look at Michelangelo's David in the Accademia Gallery or the cathedral in Piazza del Duomo, or simply wander the winding alleys and art galleries.
The bus then continues to Pisa, entering through the Santa Maria gate into Piazza dei Miracoli. The marble monuments stand on a lawn where you can rest or photograph the Leaning Tower. You can climb the tower or visit the medieval Cathedral next to it and its works of art.
Admission to churches and museums is extra. Children under 8 cannot climb the tower, and the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.
