Description
This Livorno to Pisa shore excursion is built for cruise passengers who want to see Pisa independently. After you leave the ship, a shuttle takes you from the harbor to the bus stop, where a tour leader in a green shirt waits for you. The coach then takes you to Pisa, with wi-fi on board, a map of the city and multilingual assistance at the stop.
The coach cannot enter Piazza dei Miracoli, so it leaves you at the Pietrasantina car park, about 15 minutes on foot from the Leaning Tower. The square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, shows the green of its lawns against the white marble of the Tower, the Cathedral and the Baptistery.
Afterwards you can walk on to Via Santa Maria, which leads to Piazza dei Cavalieri, with its church, the Scuola Normale university and the Gualandi Tower, where Count Ugolino of Dante's Divine Comedy died of hunger. The visit continues through Borgo Stretto to the middle bridge, with views of the Lungarni, the food market and the medieval towers of the university area.
