Description
This pasta making class in Livorno takes place in the Fortezza Nuova, a 16th-century fortress in the Venezia Nuova district. Over two hours, the host Sarah shows how to make pappardelle entirely by hand, with no machines, the way it was done at home for generations.
Everything you need is supplied, aprons included, so you only bring your hands. Flour and eggs become dough, the dough becomes ribbons, and what you have made goes to the table with a simple sauce of tomato and basil made from ingredients bought at the local market that morning.
- A hands-on class, from the dough to the finished pasta
- A tasting of your own pappardelle
- Two glasses of prosecco and two of wine, and a limoncello
Families with young children are welcome, and the little ones can cut their pasta with dinosaur-shaped cutters. If you have dietary needs, ask when booking. The class meets at Scali della Fortezza Nuova, inside the Fortezza Nuova, and the host teaches in English, French or Italian.
