Description
The Pisa Leaning Tower small group tour is built around Piazza dei Miracoli, where four medieval masterpieces stand side by side. Over one hour, a local guide walks you around the square and explains the stories and symbols of the Tower and of its three neighbours, seen from outside. You also hear why the Tower started to tilt during construction: the ground by the river was too soft.
When the guided hour ends, how much more you see depends on the option you book at the start:
- The guided walk around the square only
- The walk plus your own climb up the Leaning Tower
- The full option: the Tower, and also the Baptistery, the Cathedral and the Monumental Cemetery as well, each entered without a guide
Once the guide says goodbye, the monuments are yours to enter at the speed you like: listen to how sound carries in the Baptistery, take in the Cathedral, walk the cemetery's cloisters or feel the lean beneath your feet on the Tower's stairs. Larger groups, above six people, get a radio to hear the guide. The tour suits first-time visitors, history lovers and photographers. The Tower has its own rules: no reduced tickets, no entry for children aged 8 or under, and visitors under 18 must come with an adult. It is not suitable for wheelchair users.
