Description
This food and wine tour in Pisa lasts about four hours and treats the city the way locals do: as something to eat your way through. A local guide leads you on foot through historic squares and quiet neighbourhood lanes, telling the story of Pisa as you pass the medieval palaces and walk along the Arno.
The tastings are spread over six stops. At three restaurants you sit down for a few simple courses of traditional Tuscan recipes, each with a regional wine chosen to go with it. In between come three traditional eateries and food stalls where you try street food:
- savoury cecina
- regional cured meats
- handcrafted Italian gelato
The route is built to keep you away from the tourist traps and to bring you to places where Pisans eat. Between stops there is time for photos on the riverbank or a rest in a courtyard away from the crowds, so the walk feels like part of the meal rather than the way to reach it.
Vegetarian options are available. Gluten-free and vegan options are not, and anything that is not listed as included, such as gratuities, is extra. Food lovers who want sights and flavours in one outing will find it a good fit.
